Fishing On New Years
Chiquie, Jonathan, and I decide to head to the west coast of Florida for a west coast bridge trip. Our goal is to load up on rays and bring them back home for future Shark trips. We bring a few shark rods with us and few frozen baits for the sharks.
The bridge is very slow on this day. There are no rays in sight. Late in the afternoon Jonathan puts a bait straight down. I am waiting until the tide flips. Atslack tide Jonathan’s 80W gets picked up and he’s on. It’s a Solid Goliath Grouper.
After a good fightJonathan has the Goliath straight up and down. I don’t want to leave anything unguarded on the bridge so I tell Chiqui to go with Jonathan and help him walk the fish down and take some pics and release thefish. Chiqui did a great job helping Jonathan. This kid is an asset on our fishing trips. He is always wantingto learn and always willing to help. And he’s a pretty darn good fisherman himself. He will be catching nice fish in the very near future. Chiqui and Jonathan come back up the bridge and they tell me and theykept the fish in the water and were able to take some nice pics. We didn’t get any Rays but we ended up landing the first fish of the year for us and it was a nice one. Always nice to visit the West Coast.
