Chasing down fish, Florida Offshore Fishing.
Brook and I went offshore Sunday 3/12 and Monday 3/13.
I made the video below that covers both these days, but here is a narrative report.
"The current was smoking to the North, which we love when fishing offshore."
3/12 It was a slow day of fishing. We were able to get the kite up all day and we drifted from Hillsboro inlet to Boca inlet in two drifts. The current was smoking to the North, which we love when fishing offshore. We had a spread of 5 baits out between the kite and flat lines. Our first hit came right in front of the Deerfield beach Pier in about 200ft of water and it turned out to be a 30lb king. From the first run i knew the fish was foul hooked and finessed him the whole way in. Sure enough as soon as we went to gaff it the treble hook ripped right out of its belly. The next fish was a peanut Mahi on the long kite bite. We landed this one and had no other hits for the rest of the day.
"2-3ft chop with a 4ft swell made it seem like it was 3-5 and in our 24ft edgewater we were getting tossed around."
3/13 Brook and I went out again and were greeted with very sloppy seas. 2-3ft chop with a 4ft swell made it seem like it was 3-5 and in our 24ft edgewater we were getting tossed around. We had one bite all day and it was a sailfish. We had to chase the fish, as it was spooling us, mainly due to the fact we were drifting to the north at around 5 knots! The current was flying to the North again and on this day the wind was straight south at around 15-20knots!
Sailfish was safely release! Spring is coming and We will be ready!

Catching Redfish while Wade Fishing in Ft. Pierce.
I mentioned in one of my most recent videos that I really wanted to catch a redfish while wade fishing. a man named Marco sent me an email and told me he had a good spot where we could got on them and I was stoked! Just a quick note on how social media has changed the game for fishermen. I cannot tell you how many people I have met through social media and how many fishing trips I would have missed out on if it wasn't for the power of social media....Read More
