July Bob Hall Pier Fishing Report
I was fishing bob hall pier today and it was a very slow day for any type of fish water was a lil murky clean water was out about 200yds should be in within a few days.
I was fishing for sharks and all we were catching were little pups. I ended up catching a decent sized stingray that was about 100lbs (probably a bit less, but it put up a hell of a fight on my avet lx with 50lb mono).
"Once the water cleans up all the way is when we will start seeing more fish such as bigger sharks, kingfish, jacks, and more tarpon."
I wasn't going for stingrays, so I wasn't too excited... sharks were the target species today and it seemed like no big sharks were out today. There was plenty of bait fish in the water, whiting, sand trout,mullet and menhaden were everywhere. I used each bait that I listed above and all I was able to produce with it was small sharks and that one stingray.
"With this water change... we will be seeing more bait such as bluerunner, skipjack, baby jacks, and watermelon shad. "
About two days ago was the last time I got a really good fish I landed a massive tarpon on cut menhaden. I was originally going for sharks, so this tarpon really gave me a surprise especially because of how dirty the water was.
The water did clean up a little today (still had some cleaning up to do). I think once the water cleans up all the way is when we will start seeing more fish such as bigger sharks, kingfish, jacks, and more tarpon. Once the clean water makes It in I will be slide lining for kings and tarpon it's a fun method to use to catch these types of fish I have caught a lot kings slide lining and it's fun because you can see them sky as the smash your bait.
With this water change I think we will be seeing more bait such as bluerunner, skipjack, baby jacks, and watermelon shad. All of these are prime bait for kings and tarpon and cut up bluerunner and skipjack make perfect cut bait for sharkd and my biggest castout bull shark (6'4) was on a 2in piece of skipjack so with this water change the fishing should fire up and we should see more and more fish being caught.
