Summer Fishing In Sebastien Florida For Snook

Right now on the east coast of Florida the snook are breeding of of the beach. These fish can be sight fished from the beach and you can see them swimming in the first trough. It is almost surreal seeing a fish that big swimming that close to the beach.

Snook Caught From The Beach

The baits of choice for this have been croakers, whiting and mojarra. The way we rig these baits is by ussing a 7ft, 40lb or 50lb mono leader with a 5/0 Owner SSW or Owner Cirlce Hook. These work the best because you are able to maximize your surface area that the hook is exposed which equals more hook ups.

Our 2 outfits of choice were a Star Rods VPR surf 8ft with a Penn 4500 slammer with 30lb braid. Our other outfit was a Star Rods Seagis 7'6 with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+. We prefer these lighter outfits because we can play with the fish a little more due to the fact that there is no structure on the beaches.

Due to the fact that these snook are on the beach we can target them on lighter tackle and have a little fun with them. But these fish are not your regular snook. These fish are massive and can reach 20-30 pounds and they fight harder than any other snook I have caught.

If you can get out to Melbourne beach and fish in the surf you will be rewarded for all of your efforts. You might just catch the fish of a lifetime.

Good Luck and Tightlines.
