November Offshore Fishing Miami
I went kite fishing Saturday and Sunday this weekend and although fishing was slow there was a lot to be caught in the Miami area. The most abundant fish around seems to be the kingfish. They wouldn't leave our kite baits alone on Saturday and this resulted in multiple chops and made it hard to keep a spread out, though we did manage to get a few to the boat using Bullbuster 50lb Flouro. We also got a big Cero Mackerel and a few Bonitas.
Sailfishing was slow for the most part and we really had to move around for a bite. We managed to get one on Saturday that put on a pretty good show. We also spent some time running and gunning in the sand where we saw them pushing up Ballyhoo in about 20 ft of water. What a cool sight that was from the tower! To see these fish so shallow feeding in crystal clear water is something I don't think I will soon forget. One fish ate a ballyhoo not 10 feet from the front of the boat on the surface. They are very focused on what they are eating so be sure to match the hatch!
On Sunday we did a bit of planer trolling and had some success with the Kings just off of Fowey in about 80-120 ft of water. I rig my spoons with 30ft of Bullbuster 80lb Mono before the planer. I tie a loop knot to the spoon to get the most action possible out of the lure. We also caught a few bonitas and a small Cero. Definitely loaded up Shark Bait for the next few weeks.
Overall really looking forward to the Sailfishing heating up in the next few weeks. If you want to catch fish, Spend More Time Fishing!
