Fishing For Seatrout & Snook In Biscayne Bay

Biscayne Bay Inshore Fishing

Heavy rain and little wind lately has resulted in a hot inshore bite out on the flats of key biscayne. Specifically targeting snook and sea trout, we have had many days with 20-30 trout landed as well as multiple nice overslot snook. Signs of pilchard have started to show and strong schools have resulted in intense feeding with tarpon from time to time. All of our recent fishing has been exclusively on Bullbuster Braid (20Lb) with 30LB bullbuster mono leaders. Bullbuster fluorocarbon up to 60LB has been used when applicable, such as targeting snook off of sea walls and tarpon from the beaches. Mullet are still few and far between but expect finger mullet to start showing up very thick in the next two weeks.

The beach snook fishing has already started and will only improve. Blacktips should start to thicken off of south beach very soon as well. TIP: This time of year, there is more visible inshore bait due to the mullet run. Put in extra time looking for bait and fish near the schools. Snook, Tarpon, Sharks and more will all be following these schools of bait. Don’t be afraid to try a topwater lure through these pods or a swimbait - this is the time of the year where you may have the most success on artificial. Tight lines, Scott
