Family Fishing Trip To West End Bahamas
Another amazing run to the Bahamas is in the books! We had a few friends coming into town for a long weekend and had plans to spend the weekend on the water fishing. On Wednesday I called my friends and let they know to make sure everyone had their passports. A bit confused, but all agreed to the request. On Thursday when they arrived here in West Palm Beach, I mentioned the weather window looks great to make a quick run over to West End. Everyone was extremely excited about the news and the trip for Saturday AM.
This was going to be the first crossing for our friends, however they have spent some time fishing offshore in the northeast. I covered the checklist of safety equipment, filled out all documentation, collected the passports, packed our fishing gear, and tucked away our flags. We were ready to make the run!
It was an early morning as we cleared the inlet at first light. The weather was perfect!! I set the auto pilot, set the speed to 36mph, and in just under two hours we arrived in West End. From our dock in Boynton beach, FL it was 65 miles dock to dock.
We raised our yellow quarantine flag and docked at the customs office at Old Bahama Bay. Since we had all our documents filled out and ready to go the customs process was quick and painless.
It was October on an off weekend so we were happy to have the resort to ourselves.
We quickly got our condo reservation, took a lap around the resort, topped off the tank and went out fishing!! We found some birds right out front of OBB and worked the area, which led to a few quick bites! Soon after we moved on to do some deep dropping that west end is known for. However the Tax man did not like that idea and got a few free meals.
After a few hours of fishing and a long day on the boat we decided to kick back and relax at OBB for the rest of the day and night!!
The next day we were going to run back in the am to beat the next front that was approaching.
What an amazing trip and experience!
As always thanks to Bullbuster for all our line and terminal tackle that allows us to land our fish!!!
