Battle of the Boarders 1st Annual Striper Tournament. 5/11/2019
We started out looking for bunker hoping to fill the live well. With no luck after 2 hours it was time to start fishing. We were running a 7-rod spread which in my opinion is pretty impressive off of a 22 foot boat.
Our starting spread consisted of a pair of Tandem JoeBaggs Mojos paired with Scabelly Trollers. A pair of M3 Tackle Bunker Spoons, 2 Deep Divers and a Tsunami Shad. It didn't take long for our first fish to hit the deck maybe a half hour into the tournament we landed a decent 34 inch 14 lbs Bass. Not a bad start but knew we needed bigger.
From there we went dry for almost 3 hours. We were marking tons of fish with a few bumps but no takers. Right around 10 am we had our next fish which ended up being the fish we weighed in that weighed 15 lbs and 8 oz on the official scale by the end of the day.
Then we went dry again until about 2 pm when we hooked into our final fish that measured about 31 inches weighing about 10 lbs. A rough day getting the fish to cooperate even though we were around the fish all day. but it was still a fun day with a great crew.
The other positive thing to the day.
Even though our team didn't win At least the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams all were from NJ.
