What Braided Fishing Line Should I Use?
We recommend using 20-30Lb braid for if you are site casting to redfish or fishing with artificials. With 20-30Lb braid you should not have a problem catching even the biggest of redfish. Braid is EXCELLENT for red fishing. Braid has excellent castability and very little stretch with makes for great redfish hook sets.
If you are only fishing for big bull reds exclusively and are not expecting to catch any smaller fish you may want to beef up your tackle to 40-50LB braid.
What Monofilament Fishing Line Should I Use?
When fishing with monofilament for redfish 12-15Lb monofilament is excellent for catching most inshore redfish. If you are fishing for bull reds you may want to beef up your monofilament from 20-30Lb test monofilament.
What Monofilament Leader Material Should I Use?
When sight casting or using artificials for redfish, 20-30Lb monofilament leader should do well for smaller reds. You may want to scale up to 40-50Lb monofilament leader for targeting bull reds.
What Fluorocarbon Leader Material Should I Use?
When sight casting to redfish or fishing for them with artificials 20-30LB fluorocarbon works well for small reds, if you are targeting bull reds scale up to 40-50Lb fluorocarbon.
