Species 101: Blue Fish (Pomatomus saltatrix)

I've noticed people don't know what blue fish is, maybe that's me but I've asked people about it and they would be like "What?". But Blue Fish are really hard Fighters I love Catching them but not so much eating them. I wouldn't mind eating them but still not my top choice.

What To Use To Catch Blue Fish!

What I would use to catch blue fish is live bait such as sardines, or pilchards. But yet again they also go for Cut up bait, like cut up sardines, Squid, ballyhoo, and Mullet. Also you can catch them off throwing lures.

Where Can You Catch Blue Fish?

You can catch them in the ocean with live bait off a kayak or a boat. Also you can catch them in the Flats like I’ve caught up in North Miami off love sardines, off my friends kayak.

What Hook To Use To Catch Blue Fish?

I say the best hook would be Circle Hook, Just because they take Snatch the bait out of no where so when they Snatch that bait you have on it’s a automatic catch. I would suggest you use the hook I referenced in my other article. The Mustad Demon Perfect Circle Hooks 4/0 these have never failed me and I hope they never will.

What Line To Use To Catch Bluefish?

What I would use is 20Lb or more Braid or Monofilament, with 20Lb Fluorocarbon or more. Since they have sharp teeth would be best to have thicker line but again remember not to thick because they will see it.
