Bottom Fishing for Grouper, turned to Mutton.
took advantage of the two day weather window this week. Ended up booking double 6hr charters for both day. Long but fun days.
Wednesday i fished out of palm beach inlet. Towed the boat down to phil foster park and splashed her in. First trip showed up. Shoved off and picked up some livebait on the way out. Fishing started off a little slow in the first area just a few trash fish while bottom fishing. Blue runners and sand tiles and grunts. So i made a move to some shallower area with a few ledges through the drift. We were fishing some brand new 30lb bullbuster mainline with 2oz leads slide rigs with 10 foot of 40 lb bullbuster and a 5/0 mutsu circle hooks with a sardine hooked thru the nose. The fish started biting better

Started catching a few nice keeper muttons and yellow tails. A few porgies. This just short red grouper was released unharmed. Then landed a few nice mangrove snappers once we drifted over a ledge. And a nice strawberry grouper

Also got a few nice kingfish on the flat line.

All in all was a good trip with great people and alot of fun.
Second trip was with some regulars
Went out to the general same area and the bite slowed down there. Got a couple nice tails and porgys and then it was like the switch was turned off. So on to the next area. Set up the drift. And boom. First fish for the drift was a nice 5-6 lb mutton caught by one of the young boys. Unfortunately the pic turned out very blurry. Then his brother caught one in the 3-4 lb range. Some more yellow tails. Mom got herself a big porgy. Then the flat line went of. Mom got the rod and it was a nice king.
Iced him. Then we turned our attention to bigger things. Dad and the boys have done alot of shark fishing with me so naturally on moms first trip she had to have one too.
So while we continued catching various snappers and porgys we drop a live blue runner to the bottom on the 30 wide spooled with bullbuster braid. It didnt take long and we were hooked up to the man. For a minute there we werent sure who had who

Im still waiting for a pic of the shark. But it ended up being a 250-300 bull shark after a 30 minute battle.
