Summer Fluke Season Is Coming Up!
As this virus keeps us all socially distanced from one another i find myself going through my gear over and over, counting my hooks re-organizing my gear and repeating " okay i need one of theses one of those; and why do i keep buying theses i never use them".
As i strip the line off my reels and spool them up with some bullbuster 30lb braid in preparation for the upcoming season all I can think about is getting back out to the shoals to target some big doormats (fluke, AKA flounder, AKA summer flounder).
These fish are normally caught using a 4oz buck tail and a teaser both tipped with a 6 inch gulp grub. The rig is tied up using 40lb fluorocarbon. The other method is dragging a bait on a long leader. Both are attached to 30 lb main line of braid. Last year the largest one tipped the scales at 13.8lb with many double digit fish . I can't wait to get out this summer and ill be sure to write some reports. hopefully this quarantine situation is resolved soon so we can all get back out on the grounds and catch some fish.
If you have any questions about fluke fishing don't hesitate to ask. Just don't ask for spots.
