10 Reasons Why You Should Use Fluorocarbon Fishing Line

Fluorocarbon is a hard plastic made of polyvinylidene fluoride . Fluorocarbon is more expensive the regular monofilament, but there are a number of benefits that make it worth it.  We will get into those below!

1. Invisibility - The refractive index of fluorocarbon is close to that of water, making it  near invisible to water. This, of course, is extremely important, particularly in clear water. The nylon  that makes up regular monofilament fishing line, on the other hand, is more visible underwater.

2. Abrasion Resistance: Fluorocarbon offers more resistance to abrasion than monofilament because it is a lot more dense.  Using fluorocarbon as leader material can be a plus for fish that either have rough mouths or sharp teeth.

3. UV Resistance - The impact of UV rays affects nylon plus weakening it over time, while fluorocarbon has little impact on it. You can store your fluorocarbon leader in the console of your boat without any damage, whereas monofilament you are going to want to store in a tackle compartment or in your garage to avoid UV damage.

4. Waterproof: Fluorocarbon does not absorb water at all, unlike other super fishing lines. This is due to its high resistance and sensitivity. This also means that this fishing line has the same resistance and sensitivity even under the surface when dry. (Monofilament fishing line actually is strongest when it has been soaking in the water for a while, this is why the IGFA tests the “wet breaking strength” of a line used for a world record)

5. Rapid visibility: One of the main factors that contribute to the low visibility of the fishing line is its ability to distort the light passing through the line because its refractive index is lower than that of water. A fluorocarbon fishing line has this most impotant feature which makes it very useful for fishing lines and procedure. The fluorocarbon coating makes the product invisible underwater and thus helps attract more fish into the fishing net.

6. Low Stretch - Fluorocarbon is stiffer than nylon, this reasons make it to have lower stretch and higher sensitivity to fish bites. With a low stretch line, you can feel every little thing happening at the end of your line.

7. Density: In any case, the better benefit, in my analysis, is the density (of fluorocarbon) because you have less slack in the line."That's on account of fluorocarbon has less memory than monofilament. It has a tendency to be straighter, so there's less line in the water between the fisherman and the lure. But the truth that fluorocarbon has low memory implies it can bring about issues on turning reels. Toward the end of a cast, fluorocarbon can keep on shooting off the reels, bringing about a bird nest of line.

8. It sinks - Fluorocarbon is denser than water, which causes it to flow (unlike nylon). It's great when you fish deep. It reduces or eliminates the bow / arc of the line that is caused by floating.

9. Diameter - Fluorocarbon has about the same diameter as the nylon monofilament with the same tensile strength. However, because fluoro is difficult for fish to see, you can upsize the pound test for extra resistance and abrasion resistance without scaring shy fish.

10. Handling Power - Due to the lack of nylon mono, fluorocarbon provides stronger hooks, even at long distances. If you have to drive the hook home at the end of a long cast, this is a key consideration
